Fire resistant safes, and especially those with a gasket included for water resistance become extremely airtight. Anything that airtight has a chance to build up moisture inside from humidity. Opening the safe at this cadence will help prevent humidity build up.

I have a safe deposit box at my bank but wanted something fireproof for my home for other type important papers only to me.   This is well built and meets my needs. Some posts have said it is hard to lock so I don't bother locking it. It is possible for someone to carry it off so if they see it just has my old papers in it and not valuable to anyone, maybe they will leave it alone.

Big and strong, like me

I have had this safe for more than 30 years! I am thankful that I have never had to test its fire rating, but it has stored our most important original documents over all of that time. The key works flawlessly, never sticking! The ONLY thing I wish is that it was ever so slightly wider so I could fit 3-ring notebooks inside without going kitty corner. Of course, that's no fault of the design as that was never intended. Just the way I tend to file certain documents. Still loving it after all these years!

The size it nice and it seems very sturdy. we have a fire box now from decades ago and this is so much of an upgrade. I rated 4 stars because I just got it so have not had it long enough to give 5 stars.

Arrived intact and the lock and key work

I bought us safe because it's supposed to be fireproof and secure but I found that other keys can open the safe so it's that not secure Also when I open the box the safe was damage right above the key I have a photo here it is.

Fire Proof

The metal part of the latch that locks the box gets bent easily preventing the lid from shutting until it's bent back straight. Anyone can easily open this safe with a flathead screwdriver or even a butter knife. My safe didn't come with keys, so I open it with a knife when needed.
